New Medicare Surety Bond Requirement

On December 29,2008 the Federal Government announced a new Surety Bond Requirement for most suppliers to the Medicare
program of durable medical equipment, prosthetics, orthotics and medical supplies (DMEPOS). The bond
amount is $50,000 per location and the bonds must be in place by May 2009 for new DMEPOS suppliers, those that
have had recent ownership changes and for new locations. All other, existing DMEPOS suppliers must have their
bonds in place by October 2, 2009.
